After a glorious victory in the 70’s General Elections, an Awami League meeting was held at the Race Course Maidan (Suhrawardy Udyan).... All the 419 Awami League members from the national and provincial council took oath at the meeting with Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman conducting the oath-taking ceremony. Ms. Indira Gandhi stood by the side of the people of Bangladesh from the beginning of the Liberation War despite various adversities. She provided shelter to about one crore Bangladeshi refugees. She provided courage in the Liberation War by facing different diplomatic hurdles. She played a great role in freeing Bangabandhu from Pakistani jail. Her contribution to Bangladesh's Liberation War will be remembered forever.

The Soviet Foreign Minister during the time of war, Andrei Gromyko said to Rogers who was the Foreign Secretary of the USA, “The matter of East Pakistan is not an internal matter of Pakistan anymore. Dutch-Australian

William A. S. Ouderland was a Dutch-Australian commando officer. He actively took part in the Bangladesh Liberation War. Later, he was awarded the fourth highest gallantry award, the Bir Protik, by the Government of Bangladesh. He is the only foreigner to receive this honorary award

Archer Kent Blood was an American career diplomat and academic. He served as the last American Consul General to Dhaka, Bangladesh (East Pakistan at the time). He is famous for sending the strongly worded "Blood Telegram" protesting against the atrocities committed in the Bangladesh Liberation War.
