After a glorious victory in the 70’s General Elections, an Awami League meeting was held at the Race Course Maidan (Suhrawardy Udyan).... All the 419 Awami League members from the national and provincial council took oath at the meeting with Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman conducting the oath-taking ceremony. He assured the ocean of people gathered there, that the constitution will be based on the 6-Point demand and none can stop it. (January 3, 1971)
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman delivered an important speech at the Central Shaheed Minar on National Martyr’s Day, ... a month prior to the liberation war. In his speech, he appealed to every Bengali to start preparing for their endeavor towards independence. (February 21, 1971)

Preparing the Bengalis for a greater struggle, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman called for a non-cooperation movement. ... Instead of Pakistan Day, this day was observed as the Resistance Day, instead of the Pakistani national flag, for the first time a Bangladeshi flag was flown all over the country. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, with the break of dawn raised the flag of independent Bangladesh at his Dhanmondi residence. Ms. Indira Gandhi stood by the side of the people of Bangladesh from the beginning of the Liberation War despite various adversities. She provided shelter to about one crore Bangladeshi refugees. She provided courage in the Liberation War by facing different diplomatic hurdles. She played a great role in freeing Bangabandhu from Pakistani jail. Her contribution to Bangladesh's Liberation War will be remembered forever.
